Keep on Rockin’ in the Free World
When I told people that my husband and I were going to see Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young they assumed that it was my Baby Boomer husband’s idea, but this Gen Xer was the driving force behind the outing. And I wasn’t the only one. The venue was filled with a nice mix of aging hippies in BMWs and neo-hippies in Priuses. The love-fest was momentarily disrupted when one of the older fans behind me was upset that a young upstart in front of him actually wanted to stand during a concert. An argument ensued and security had to come to take the two men away. It put a bit of a damper on the rest of the first half because I felt constrained to sitting and I like to be able to stand when the music moves me. But the second half started mellow with Graham Nash at the piano singing “Our House” followed by Neil Young taking his place with “Only Love Can Break Your Heart”, but when they launched into “Southern Cross” the entire place was on their feet for the remainder of the show. These guys are still relevant and most of all they still rock!
